Naomi Haberman, LCSW-C, C-DBT

I am direct and straightforward, while also being respectful and encouraging in guiding clients in identifying and utilizing their strengths to move forward toward their targets.

My background includes 15+ years providing community mental health services for adults with severe mental illness and substance abuse. I also worked in Howard County Public Schools for many years providing crisis intervention, coping & social skills education and emotion regulation instruction.

Following my undergraduate studies in Psychology and Music Performance at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and I earned a Masters in Social Work with a specialty in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Maryland.

I am therapeutic, but to the point. I work with my clients to understand their strengths, as well as to learn to modify their behaviors and thought processes to obtain more effective and desired outcomes.
I have worked in the community mental health field for more than 10 years. I specialize in providing services to adults and adolescents with co-occurring and psychiatric disorders, including but not limited to personality, anxiety, mood, eating, trauma, and psychotic disorders. I also specialize in working with first responders and veterans.
I hold undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Health Sciences from Maryland colleges, and later earned a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Maryland.

I first began my career working as a foster care and adoptions social worker. This has fueled my therapeutic approach, as I strongly believe in empowering individuals and families to overcome any obstacle. I work to provide clients and their families with the tools to overcome many day to day obstacles to include, but not limited to, stress and anxiety, depression, body image concerns, life transitions and trauma.
I earned my undergraduate degree in Social Work at Bowie State University, followed by my Masters of Social Work, with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health, from the University of Maryland.

Kathleen Van Meter, LCSW-C, C-DBT

I am licensed at the clinical level (LCSW-C) to practice social work in Maryland. I use a direct, yet warm and affirming approach in therapy. Each client is unique and I work hard to assist clients in achieving his or her treatment goals through Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution- Focused Therapy. Much of my work focuses on Mindfulness and supportive therapies.
I have experience providing services to individuals with Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Eating Disorders, Domestic Violence, At-risk youth, and individuals in crisis. I use evidence-based practice modalities as well as individualizing treatment for each client to assist him or her in maximum therapeutic benefits.
My golden doodle Penny assists me in therapy sessions and has had a positive impact on individuals suffering from Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder and PTSD. She loves meeting new people and aims to provide a stress-free and relaxing environment!

Penny the Golden doodle works hard to ensure clients are comfortable and have an outlet for their emotions. Penny has a calm disposition and temperament, making her the perfect companion to any therapy session. Pet therapy has been well documented to decrease initial anxieties and can assist in the rapport building. Penny strives to create a warm, judgment -free environment and takes direction very well.

I use an authentic therapeutic approach to help clients heal and grow. To create a safe and supportive space where clients feel comfortable being themselves, I emphasize being genuine and transparent. I am respectful of clients' autonomy and values and work with clients to develop goals that are meaningful to them. I am also committed to social justice and equity and work to create a more inclusive and affirming world for all people.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. I am currently pursuing an Advanced Standing Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in Clinical Social Work and Advocacy. As an intern at Tides of Change Wellness, I am excited to begin my career as a social worker and am committed to making a difference in the lives of my clients and the community I serve.
