TOCW in the Community
At Tides of Change Wellness, we believe healing happens not just inside therapy rooms but through community, connection and shared growth. "In the Community" is where we celebrate that collective journey.
Below you’ll find snapshots of how we engage with, support and empower our clients, families and wider community. If you have a community engagement you think TOCW is perfect for, please don't hesitate to Contact Us!

Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walks throughout Montgomery, Howard and Frederick counties. Stepping into these spaces is a meaningful extension of our work rooted in connection, compassion and the belief that mental health support belongs in the community. These walks create room to remember those we’ve lost, stand beside those who are hurting and remind one another that help and hope are always within reach. DBT teaches us the power of showing up in the present moment, building connection and holding hope alongside pain. These walks reflect those same values. Each mile walked is a shared message: You are not alone and your life matters. We’re honored to walk alongside our neighbors in the community and to be part of a collective effort to bring light, care and awareness to a cause that touches so many lives.
The Fostering Hope Summit, Unplugged This event creates space for youth and adults to step away from what overwhelms them and lean into connection, resilience, and hope. For students, it’s an opportunity to engage in honest conversations about mental health, explore practical coping tools, and experience what it feels like to be supported and heard. For adults, it offers a parallel space to reflect, learn, and strengthen their ability to show up for young people while also tending to their own well-being. Our presence at the summit reflects what we value most as a practice: meeting people where they are, normalizing mental health conversations and reminding both youth and caregivers that growth happens through relationships. Events like this allow us to move beyond therapy sessions and into shared community. Moments where learning, laughter and connection can exist side by side.
Local High School Partnerships Have you seen our logo around town, on the back of our local Howard County high schools' booster tee-shirts? This partnership allows TOCW to reach students early, consistently and in the environments where challenges often emerge. These partnerships help normalize mental health care, reduce stigma and provide not only students, but staff as well, with practical skills for managing emotions, stress and crises.

Community Events Catch us at your local community events such as trunk or treats, health fairs, wellness expos, community resource fairs, community workshops and more! Being present at these events helps bring support out of the office and into everyday spaces, making care more accessible and less stigmatizing.
Opioid Community Collaboration Council TOCW was able to provide DBT classes to assist in the Opioid Community Collaboration Council for Howard County. These classes were targeted to assist the parents and guardians of juvenile justice-involved youth and youth at risk of involvement.
Local Behavioral Health Advisory Board TOCW was afforded the opportunity to give a presentation to the Local Behavioral Health Advisory Board on DBT and its efficacy in the treatment of mental health disorders in children and adults.
Mental Health Professional Meetups The community also includes other health care providers! By attending events such as Maryland Mental Health & Allied Professionals Meet-Up Circle and Community Action Council of Howard County meetings on a regular basis helps ensure coordinated, ethical and effective care. Strong professional collaboration improves continuity of treatment, reduces gaps in services and allows providers to consult, refer and support one another.
